1편에서 설명한 바와 같이 버벌과 퀀트는 최저점 130점, 최고점 170점이며 한 구간당 1점으로 채점된다. 일반적으로 150점을 중앙에 두는 표준 분포를 이루고 있다. 버벌과 동일하게 첫 번째 세트에서 적게 틀려야 두 번째 세트에서 고난도 문제를 풀 수 있는 관계로 첫 번째 세트 퍼포먼스가 좋아야 한다.
퀀트는 버벌과 같이 한 세트당 20문제씩 2세트로 총 40문제이며 더미일 시 총 3세트, 60문제가 된다. 다만 버벌은 한 세트당 30분이 주어지는 반면, 퀀트는 35분이 주어진다.GRE 퀀트 수준은 한국 고등학교 1~2학년 수준으로 한국에서 고등학교를 졸업한 이공계열 응시자들에게는 쉬운 수준으로 평가되고 있지만 만점을 받기가 생각보다 쉽지 않다. 이유는 아래 설명할 예정이다.
GRE 퀀트 유형은 어떤 게 있나요?
GRE 퀀트의 범위는 산술(arithmetic), 대수학(algebra), 기하학(geometry), 데이터 분석(data analysis)이다. 퀀트 문제 유형은 크게 4가지로 분류된다.
1) Quantitative Comprehension: 보기 A와 B의 크기(수량) 비교
2) Multiple-choice Questions - Select one answer: 오지선다형의 문제(정답 하나)
3) Multiple-choice Questions - Select one or more answer choices: 오지선다형의 문제(정답 하나 또는 다수)
4) Numeric Entry Question - 정수, 혹은 소수 답을 구하는 주관식 문제
* Data Intepretation Sets (데이터 분석 문제)는 3번이나 4번에 해당된다. ("The types of questions may be Multiple-choice (both types) or Numeric Entry." - ETS)
수리 이해(Quantitative Comprehension) 문제 유형

수리 이해 문제는 식이나 도형을 A와 B의 보기로 주고 'A가 더 큰지', 'B가 더 큰지', 'A와 B가 동일한지', '주어진 정보로는 관계를 알 수 없는지'를 묻는 4지선다형으로 출제된다. 해당 유형에서 주어지는 보기는 아래와 같다.

퀀트의 기초는 뭘까요?
퀀트가 한국 고등학교 수학 교과 과정의 1~2학년 수준임에도 불구하고 만점을 받지 못하는 경우가 많은 이유는 수학 용어를 비롯해 질문이 영어로 되어 있기 때문이다. 따라서 퀀트의 기초는 수학 용어들을 영어로 공부하는 것이다. 특히 많은 응시자들이 확률이나 장문의 데이터 분석 유형의 문제들을 접할 때 당황하여 해석 실수로 문제를 틀리는 경우가 많다. 게다가 최근 ETS는 GRE가 GMAT 대비 수리 과목이 쉽다는 인식을 타파하기 위해 난이도를 많이 높이고 있어 만점 받기가 녹록지 않다. 응시자는 다른 과목들과 동일하게 시간 관리를 잘 해서 주어진 시간 안에 모든 문제를 풀 수 있도록 노력해야 한다.
